Colchester’s older core is not a standard TG20 copy-and-paste. The Dutch Quarter, North Hill and the streets off the castle need public protection, tight erect and a licence if anything sits on the highway. Lexden, Prettygate and the Mile End side are more typical domestic plots — still quoted from a survey, not a guess.
University and barracks work is programmed around access windows, not around our convenience. We would rather take the extra hour on the survey than block a lane on a market day.
